Euro 2020 – 2021 top scorer: our predictions

The Euro 2020 top scorer bet consists in determining who, among a selection of players proposed by the bookmaker, will score the most goals during the whole final phase. The qualifiers are therefore not taken into account.

The number of goals that a player can score is primarily determined by the number of games played by his team. The team has to go far in the competition for him to score goals.

Since the competition’s inception in 1960, the top scorer in the Euro has always reached at least the semi-finals of the competition. So to find out who the Golden Boot winner is, start by finding out who the top 4 teams in the tournament will be.

The odds offered by bookmakers for a bet on the top scorer of Euro 2020 are not yet displayed. You will find a comparison table here as soon as they are available.

Please note: the odds are constantly changing. You should know that they are always more interesting before the tournament starts. If you have an opinion about the top scorer at Euro 2020, we advise you to place your bet as soon as the bet is available at the bookmakers.

Euro 2020 – 2021 top scorer: the list of favourites

⚽ Antoine Griezmann

Antoine Griezmann

Griezmann finished as the Golden Boot winner at Euro 2016. He is a striker, creator, and passer. So he has all the qualities to shine once again in official competition. Although he remains a key player in his position, his performance will depend mainly on the game of Les Bleus.

If he scored 6 goals at Euro 2016, it was primarily because France had a balanced game. At the World Cup, Deschamps implemented a game based on counter-attacking, which highlighted players who like to take space like Mbappé. Nevertheless, Griezmann scored as many goals in Russia as the Bondy native (4 including 3 from the penalty spot). He is therefore naturally one of the favourites.

⚽ Kylian Mbappé

Mbappé is the clear favourite to win the Euro 2020 top scorer title. He has taken on a new dimension at PSG, but more importantly is capable of occupying the top of the attack in addition to the right wing. Deschamps could therefore entrust him with the keys to the attack in the event of Giroud’s absence. He will therefore have all the latitude to express his qualities at best.

To measure the impact of Mbappé in the French team, you only need one statistic: 12 goals scored in 31 games since 2017. You might as well say that, unless he gets injured, he could reach a ratio as high as at PSG, where he is already at 39 goals in 43 games.

⚽ Harry Kane

The Englishman was the top scorer at the 2019 World Cup in Russia with 6 goals, 3 of which came from the penalty spot. In Gareth Southgate’s XI, he acts as a trigger and guide for the younger generation. He is a technically gifted player, agile in front of goal and good at set-pieces. He is therefore a natural favourite.

The only downside is the level of England, who despite finishing fourth at the Russian World Cup, still lag behind the big nations. The Three Lions are mentally fragile and this could cost them dearly in the fight to reach the last four.

⚽ Robert Lewandowski

Robert Lewandowski

In Germany, Lewandowski is a true idol. Having scored 128 goals in 159 games for Bayern Munich, he has shown a disconcerting consistency at the highest level. Since 2011, he has always scored more than 20 goals per season, except for his year at Bayern where he only scored 17. In the national team, he has a ratio of 1 goal every 2 games or so (56 goals in 104 games).

Lewandowski, however, has a lower probability of achieving top scorer status at Euro 2020 than Griezmann or Mbappé. Firstly, Poland are fairly unlikely to reach the semi-finals of the tournament. Secondly, his status as the team’s top striker could be challenged by new Polish football sensation Krzysztof Piatek.

⚽  Romelu Lukaku

Lukaku has all the weapons to do well in the standings. Third top scorer at the 2018 World Cup with 4 goals, the Red Devils’ centre-forward is showing great consistency in the national team: 9 goals in 9 games in 2017 and 14 goals in 14 games during 2018.

Like Lewandowski, he will be dependent on his team’s good results. This is good news, as Belgium are one of the favourites for the tournament. In any case, his status as a starter seems protected, as neither Batshuayi nor Origi have yet achieved such consistency at the highest level.
